Emergency Structural Engineering in PhiladelphiaStrucTech Structural Engineers

24/7. PE on-call across the Philly metro.

StrucTech is a Philadelphia structural engineering firm led by Jim Clancy, PE #42340. Fire, vehicle impact, partial collapse, severe weather. When the city, fire department, or insurance carrier needs an engineer — we respond.

What's Included

Scope of work

Fire. A car into a storefront. A roof down after heavy snow. A rear wall that let go overnight. These calls do not schedule themselves, and the first question is always the same: is the rest of the building safe, and can anyone go back in. That answer needs a licensed engineer on-site, not a contractor's opinion.

We keep a PE on call and respond across the Philadelphia metro, typically within two hours. On arrival we assess the damaged area and the load paths around it, identify what is still carrying and what is not, and establish a safe perimeter. If the structure needs immediate stabilization, we define the shoring and bracing scope right there so a contractor can start while we finish the assessment.

The written product follows quickly. You get a dated report describing the damage, the affected structural elements, the immediate hazards, the temporary measures in place, and the repair path forward. Photographs are organized by area and condition. Where the building is occupied or attached to neighbors, the report addresses re-entry and adjacent-property risk directly, because that is what the city and the residents need to know first.

We work alongside the fire department, L&I, and your insurance carrier through the whole process. Carriers want documentation that ties the damage to the event and supports the scope of repair, and adjusters move faster when the engineering report is clear. If the city issues an unsafe notice as part of the incident, we handle the make-safe documentation needed to clear it.

For an active emergency, call (267) 310-1172. The line is answered around the clock and an engineer gets dispatched. Non-urgent damage assessments can come through the contact form.
